Obituary of Mary "Mae" Earl

EARL: Mary "Mae" Earl passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home. Her husband, Elmer Earl was by her side and both supported by excellent care givers. Mae was born in Ingelow, MB on April 29, 1928. She married Elmer Earl on October 29, 1946. They farmed in the Justice, MB area for 48 years then moved to Brandon. She was involved in the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Justice, then later in Brandon. Many happy hours were spent researching genealogy. She was a member of the Manitoba Genealogy Society. She was also a member of the Leeds and Grenville Branch Genealogy Society of Ontario. Mae was a volunteer at the Daly House Museum in Brandon. Her hobbies included sewing, needlepoint, and embroidery. She loved to write letters to family and friends with her beautiful penmanship. Mae is predeceased by her parents, David Mitchell in 1959 and Nellie Mitchell in 1999; two infant sons, Grant in 1948 and Mark in 1966; daughter, Karen in 1959 and brother, John Mitchell. She is survived by her husband, Elmer (age 100 years); daughter, Nadine Tamke; son-in-law, Hans-Friedrich Tamke; grand-daughter, Naomi Wiegers (Vince); great-grandchildren, Max Wiegers, Avoury Wiegers and step grandchildren, Morgan and Lea Wiegers; her twin sister Muriel Olmstead; sister, Elsie Wiebe and several nieces and nephews. Mae and Elmer were members of Grace Lutheran Church for many years. A Funeral Service will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, Brandon, MB on Thursday, May 28, 2020 for immediate family. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mae may be made to the Canadian Institute for the Blind, 354 – 10th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4G1. She will be missed as a wife, friend, mother and grandmother.
