Obituary of Gladys Burney

BURNEY: Gladys Mae Burney passed away peacefully at the age of 93 years with her daughter Linda and grandson David at her side on Saturday, September 19, 2020. Gladys was born August 6th, 1927 in Deloraine, Manitoba. Gladys came from a large family of 11 and remained close with her family through the years. On October 28, 1947, at the age of twenty she married Rae Burney. Together, they had two children, Linda and Reg. Gladys was a hard worker and spent over twenty years as a nurse's aide at Fairview Home. Gladys retired in 1990 and spent her later years enjoying time at Oak Lake where they had a cabin. Gladys enjoyed playing Bingo, listening to the Wheat King games on the radio and attending music in the park. Gladys' greatest joy was spending time with her family, watching her grandson David play hockey and baseball and then her great-granddaughter Rylee dancing and playing soccer. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Linda; grandson, David (Jeannie); great-granddaughter, Rylee; brother, Alvin (Ella); sisters, Diane (Linus), Leona and their families. Also left to cherish her memory are the families of her husband, Rae who passed in December of 1998.
