Obituary of Mildred Pastershank

PASTERSHANK: Mildred Pastershank, beloved wife of Nick and dearest aunt and mother to Linda Werzak. Born to Mike and Ann Werzak on September 22, 1927 in Rossburn, MB, and passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010 at the age of 82 years at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Mildred attended Bird School and worked on the family farm till her late teens when she went to work on her own. On July 30, 1955, Mildred married Nick Pastershank and they moved to Brandon where they resided until the time of her passing. In July 1958, her niece, Linda, joined the family after Linda's mother, Lena Werzak, passed away the day of Linda's birth. Mildred devoted her life to Linda and loved her very much. Linda became their only child and was brought up by Mildred and Nick as well as her biological father, Nick Werzak, who also passed away December 9, 1977 from cancer. Again, leaving Mildred and Nick as her only parents. For 18 years, Mildred struggled with Lupus and Scleroderma and for the last 2 ½ years, spent a lot of time in the hospital and eventually succumbed to her illness. Mildred loved the church, but unfortunately due to illness, she was unable to attend. But pray she did and believe in the Lord she did. Sunday morning was her time for gospel music. Mildred was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Ann, brothers Matt, Nick, Fred, Walter, sister Mary, brothers-in-law Michael Matiation and Peter Wasilka. Leaving to mourn her passing are husband Nick, niece Linda, sisters Stella Matiation of Winnipeg and Joyce Kristalovich and brother-in-law Rudy Kristalovich of Rossburn, plus many nieces and nephews. We will always love and remember her for her gentle nature and soul. The Funeral Service was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Michael Tkachuk officiating, assisted by Cantor, Tony Yuriy. Active Pallbearers were Aleeta Hall, Linda Stebeletski, Arnold Semchuk, Sonya Jobb and Henry and Victor Hiebert.
