Obituary of Keith Emmerson Timmons
TIMMONS: Keith Emmerson Timmons passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 in Brandon surrounded by his family. Keith was born on September 14, 1932 in Carnduff, SK to Thomas and Helen Timmons. He grew up on the family farm where he developed an outstanding work ethic from a young age, an example set by his parents for whom Keith had an enormous amount of love and respect. Family was very important to Keith and he enjoyed reading about his family history.
On March 5, 1955, Keith met the love of his life, Audrey Klatt. He said his heart skipped a beat when he saw her. In 55 years, he never forgot the anniversary of their meeting. On October 1 of that year, Keith married Audrey in Lampman, SK. Keith was employed by Co-op in a number of locations, first in Bracken, SK while they were newly married, and then in Minnedosa where their daughter, Kim, was born in 1956 and first son, Dean in 1959. Then it was off to Lemberg, SK where youngest son, Mark, was born in 1960. After living in Semans, Moose Jaw, and Strathclair, Keith and Audrey moved back to Minnedosa in 1967 where Keith was employed as the manager of the Minnedosa Credit Union. In 1979, the family moved to Brandon where Keith started employment with Braun & Braun Real Estate, and then with the City of Brandon as Property Manager/Development Coordinator in 1983 until his retirement in 1997. Keith said it was this last job that gave him his happiest working years. He found his job with the city immensely satisfying and enjoyed the people he worked with.
Keith was an avid sports fan and the television was always on TSN. He loved all sports, especially baseball, hockey, and football, and he usually cheered for the underdogs. Keith was happy that his illness did not prevent him from watching the 2009 Grey Cup in which his beloved Roughriders were playing. Keith was an encyclopedia of hockey facts and trivia and his trusty hockey book was not far from his side. Alongside his hockey book was his equally trusty car buying guide. Keith had a hobby of buying and selling campers, trucks and cars.
Keith was predeceased by his father, Thomas, mother-in-law Gladys, and father-in-law Ernest, sister Connie, and brothers-in-law Grant, Glen, and Don. He is survived by his wife Audrey, daughter Kim (Gary), son Dean, and son Mark (Carolyn), his mother Helen, nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sister Peggy (Vern), brother Russ (Martha), sisters-in-law Edith, Joan (Terry), Jean (Guy), Sheila (Harry), brother-in-law Ray (Margaret), and many much loved nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place at Keith's request. A celebration of life service will take place at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. A private family interment will follow at a later date in Carnduff, SK. Donations in memory of Keith may be made to a charity of choice.
