Obituary of Adam Kozack

KOZACK: Adam Edward Kozack of Brandon, beloved husband of Irene and dear father to Patricia, Dennis and Terry, passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Monday, April 12, 2010 at the age of 86 years. Adam was born to George and Irene Kozack on December 7, 1923 at Rossburn, Manitoba. After marrying Irene (née Obedniak) in 1948, they lived on the farm and moved to Brandon in 1958. Adam worked at McGavin's Bakery and then in the Maintenance Department at Simplot for 20 years, retiring at age 65. He was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, the Ukrainian Men's Club and the Ukrainian Reading Association Hall. Adam enjoyed watching all kinds of sports and loved to travel. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene; children Patricia, Winnipeg, Dennis, Kamloops, B.C., and Terry (Shirley), Melita; grandchildren Shani (Al) Hay, Kamloops, B.C.; great-grandchildren Skylar and Dayton Hay, Kamloops, B.C.; brother Steve, Hamilton, ON, and sister Mable Glushka, Rossburn. Adam was predeceased by brothers Alex and Mike and sisters Jean and Vivian. Prayers will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. The Divine Liturgy will be held at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Michael Tkachuk officiating and Stella Fedeniuk as Cantor. Active Pallbearers will be Dennis Kozack, Terry Kozack, Kirk Austin, Myron Glushka, Raymond Glushka, and Milton Brykaliuk. Cross Bearer will be Eugene Kozun. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. If friends so wish, donations in memory of Adam may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, "Western MB Cancer Care Project," 150 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3.
