Obituary of Margaret Rose Thordarson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, aunt and grandmother Margaret Rose (Goodwin) Thordarson who passed away peacefully at Dinsdale Personal Care Home in Brandon, MB on April 22, 2010 with her three sons present. Margaret was born in Horsham, Sussex, England to William and Rose (Francis) Goodwin and spent the early part of her life living in the small adjacent village of Broadbridge Heath attending Broadbridge Heath School and later working in Horsham through to 1946. Margaret was predeceased by her father in 1971 and mother in 1950. Margaret met her husband to be David Alexander Thordarson while he was serving with the Canadian Army, Royal South Saskatchewan Regiment 2nd Division in England during WWII. Margaret and David were married in the Parish Church of Horsham on April 03, 1946 and they settled in Brandon, Manitoba. Margaret and David raised and are still survived by three sons; Bill (Sherron) with grandchildren Caitlin, Andrew and Zachary of Delta, BC, Allan (Kim) with grandchildren Danielle, Brynne and Erik of Winnipeg, MB and son Glenn also of Delta, BC, a sister Maureen (Geoff) Forsdyke of Henfield, Sussex, England with nephew Graham (Lynn) Forsdyke and children Mathew and Hayley and niece Caroline (David) Boxall with children Adam and Lucy. Margaret was predeceased by her husband David on January 5th, 2005 in Brandon. The family would like to convey very special thanks to all the wonderful staff at Dinsdale Personal Care Home who have been nothing short of remarkable in their care and friendship they have shown our mum over the years of her residency there. You truly have all been a great comfort to our family knowing that our mum was well cared for and looked after especially in these later years of her life with diminishing health. There will be a private family interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in mum's name would be greatly appreciated and accepted to The Salvation Army in care of Dinsdale Personal Care Home, 510 - 6th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A- 3N9.
