Obituary of Stella Dyck

DYCK: Stella Dyck of Brandon passed away peacefully with her family at her side, on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the age of 77 years. She was born May 10, 1932 to Andrew and Helen Yonda. She attended David Livingstone School, Earl Haig and Brandon Collegiate. She worked at Brandon Packers and McKenzie Seeds. In 1954, she married Richard Dyck and had three children. She helped Richard get his delivery business started and then stayed home to raise the children. She worked at Brandon General Hospital as a dietary aide for 20 years until she retired in 1996. Stella loved to work outside taking care of her garden and yard and loved to plant lots of flowers. She had a special talent for sewing, knitting and decorating. She loved to bike ride around town with her grandchildren. She volunteered countless hours at St. John Ambulance and blood donor clinic. She enjoyed the camaraderie with the ladies at Streamliners and also her coffee friends. Stella was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Helen; husband Richard; brothers Joe, John, Stanley and Walter; sisters Sophie, Kathleen and Irene. She is survived by her children: Karen Smith (Robert) and grandchildren Richard, David and Kelsey; Garth Dyck (Brenda) and Donald and Jessica; Lisa Stevenson (Mark). Also her sisters Mary Rohlfs, Rose Packan (Alex), Jean Gilbert; sisters-in-law Mildred Yonda and Joyce Yonda and many nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Monday, May 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Major and Captain Preston of Dinsdale Personal Care Home officiating. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Stella may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, "Western MB Cancer Care Project," 150 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3.
