Obituary of Winifred (Win) Mary Biggs

BIGGS: Winifred Mary of Brandon passed away Saturday, May 29, 2010 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre with her companion Bill and all her family by her side. Win was born April 5, 1927 in Leighton Buzzard, England. During the World War, mom worked in a munitions factory. A few years later she met her husband to be, Stan, and they where married March 12, 1949. A year later they where blessed with twin daughters, Patricia and Jennifer. In March 1957, the family emigrated from England to Brandon. Mom worked several jobs including Eaton's cafeteria and the dining room at the North Hill Motel. In February 1964, they were blessed with another daughter, Jacqueline. Mom continued working until dad became ill. She devoted herself to caring for him and after a lengthy illness dad passed away in 1985. After dad's passing, mom returned to work part time at Shirley's Card Shop. Sometime later, mom reconnected with a lifelong friend, Bill Bayne. Friendship turned to a loving and devoted relationship. This led to many happy memories at Clear Lake, camping trips, visits to Victoria, B.C. and England. Mom is survived by her devoted companion Bill, daughters Pat (Craig), Jen (John), Jackie (Glen); her grandchildren Chris (Melissa), Phil (Carrie), Wendy (Donnie), Erin (Rob) and her great grandchildren Chevy, Landon, Kally, Kate and Olivia. Win is also survived by her brother Charlie and many nieces and nephews in England. The funeral service was held June 2, 2010 at St. Mary's Anglican Church. Honorary Pallbearers were Lynne Reed, Jenny Chatt, Joan Shields and Betty and Roger Geeves. In memory of Win, donations can be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, "Western MB Cancer Care Project," 150 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 2B3.
