Obituary of William Hansen
HANSEN: William (Bill) Hansen passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Hillcrest Personal Care Home on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at the age of 81 years. Bill was born June 6, 1929 to Antonie and Johannes Hansen of Carnduff, SK. During the dirty thirties, his mother and he relocated to NW of Brandon to our home farm near Kirkham's Bridge to keep house for Ken Lumbard. He was able to continue his education at Powerville School getting his grade nine. He made many life long friendships in the community and enjoyed playing baseball and curling. Dad worked with Ken on the farm until he was able to take it over. The Harrow community near Kirkham's bridge is where dad met our mother Agnes Drummond. They were married on June 30, 1954 at the Roseville Church and began their new life together on the home farm. Dad always had to be busy doing something usually outdoors or driving something. He was a member of the Brandon Sno-Goers and a founder of the Snowmobilers of Manitoba. When Agnes was diagnosed with cancer, it took a huge toll on the family. After she passed away, he was lost until Donna Ferguson came into his life. They were married on April 11, 1998. They began to travel around in the fifth wheel trailer, take trips to Arizona, Texas, and to the west coast for a couple of cruises to Alaska. Bill will be remembered by his wife Donna, son Brent Hansen, daughter Lianne (Jim) Christie, daughter Sharon (Glenn) Williamson; grandchildren Bradley, Carla and Jesse (Jolene Young) Hansen, Lisa (Ryan) Leeson, Matthew and Janna MacDonald, Stuart Christie, Kalyn (Jason) Stewart, Dylan and Nathan Williamson, and great grandchildren Jayde, Jori, Jersey, and Jaxston Hansen-Young; step children Bryan and Sherri Ferguson (children Spencer, Cassie, and Renee), Patti and Gerry Gordon (children Riley and Amy), Boyd and Carleen Ferguson; brother Svend, sisters-in-law Ida Drummond, and Lynn Hyndman as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill was predeceased by mother Antonie and father Johannes Hansen, his first wife Agnes Hansen, brother-in-law Bill Drummond and sister-in-law Edna Hansen. There was a private family interment at Rosewood Cemetery prior to the Celebration of Bill's life at First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. If desired, donations can be made in Bill's memory to the Parkinson's Society of Manitoba, 7 - 414 Westmount Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2J 1P2 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Unit 3 – 824 – 18th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 5B7. Thank you to all our friends and family for the cards, flowers, and food and kind words during our difficult time.
We will love you forever,
We will love you for always.
As long as we are living,
Our father you will be.
