Obituary of Mary Nettie Stobbe

STOBBE: Mary Nettie Stobbe, age 86, passed away September 29th, 2010 in Fairview Home, Brandon, Manitoba. Mary was born in Molotschna, Russia, October 25th, 1923 to Johann and Elizabeth Neufeld. She had four sisters and two brothers and was the youngest of the girls. She grew up in Woodlands and North Kildonan in Winnipeg, MB, after immigrating to Canada at nine months of age. Mom taught in several schools including Oakbank prior to her marriage to Peter Stobbe July 23rd, 1949. Their newly married life began on the Stobbe family farm in Alexander, MB. In 1957, they moved to Brandon where they have resided ever since. Her passion in life was in nurturing her children, serving her church and community and living out her daily walk with God. Mom had the gift of true hospitality. Our home and especially our dining room table was always open to friends, strangers, foster children, extended family, missionaries, and anyone in need. Her gift to many was her homemade baking, canning - her freezer was always full. Her service included Pioneer Girls, Ladies Groups, Deacons, Catering, Bible Studies, Neighbourhood Coffee Connections, MCC sales, etc…. Mom was involved in starting the first Brandon Self-help store, as well as helping refugees get settled. Whether it was gardening, baking, housework, babysitting or sewing, she was tireless in her service to others. Most of all she was dad's partner in life, taking part in or participating in golfing, camping, fishing, traveling, home improvement projects and much, much more. In her final weeks of life she longed for heaven. On Wednesday, September 29, 2010 - God called her home.
