Obituary of Kathleen "Kaye" Dunn

DUNN: Kathleen (Kaye) Dunn, May 31, 1926 – January 30, 2011. It is with great sadness that Kaye's family announces her sudden passing on January 30, 2011 in Brandon at the age of 84 years. Kaye was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Albert Dunn; her first son, Guy Barry Dunn; her brothers Peter and Wally Warnick and sisters Ann Warnick and Mary Slobodian. Kaye Warnick was born in Kemnay, Manitoba on May 31, 1926 and moved to Brandon in her late teens, where she worked at Kennedy's Music Store, and played piano in a band. Kaye will be lovingly remembered and missed by her five children; Beverley Binkley of Vancouver, Barbara Dart (Bill) of Edmonton, Gregory Dunn of Toronto, Craig Dunn (Claudette) of Portage La Prairie and Sherri Ferguson (Bryan) of Brandon; her sister Helen Prost of Winnipeg and her brothers Bill Warnick (Phyllis) of Brandon, Steve Warnick (Helen) of Calgary and her many friends. She will be greatly missed by her precious 12 grandchildren; Kristen Binkley (David Neufeld) and Kara Binkley (Chuck Greig) of Vancouver, Parker and Taylor McDougall of Edmonton, Jodi Dunn and Aimee Hatcher (Kevin)of Brandon, Tyler, Stefanie and Marshall Dunn of Portage La Prairie and Spencer, Cassie and Renee Ferguson of Brandon; and her five great grandchildren, Mickey Daly of Brandon, Luke and Ruby Hatcher of Brandon, Jessika and Sophia Greig of Vancouver. She was very proud of the many accomplishments of her grandchildren and she loved nothing better than spending time with them. When Kay's husband died in 1976, she took over the family business of Imperial Taxi Ltd. and ran it until it was sold a few years later. She then worked at Reesor's Jewellery Store in the Brandon Mall until she retired in 1991. Kay took up curling and golfing late in life and loved both sports. She had a hole in one and broke a 100 at the Clear Lake golf course, she saw these as great accomplishments of her golf career. She spent her summers at Clear Lake at 290 Wasagaming Drive (the little red house) and she leaves behind many friends there. She loved the annual Tamarack Golf Tournament and when she could no longer play, she followed her children's and grandchildren's progress in the tournament throughout the week-long event. Kaye will also be remembered by friends and family for her rousing piano playing, as well as her great love of cooking. Kaye was a courageous woman and truly an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She lived every day of her life as though it was a special gift. The family wishes to thank the staff at Brockie Donovan Funeral Home for their caring assistance in this difficult time. .
