Obituary of James "Harry" Grubb

GRUBB: James "Harry" Grubb passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, February 16, 2011. He was 67. Born in Leamington, Ontario on 25 February 1943, Harry had resided in Brandon for almost 40 years. The son of a fisherman, his childhood was spent on Lake Erie in Point Pellee, Ontario. After graduating high school in Leamington, he started his career working for the Metropolitan Stores. During this period, he rose to the position of store manager while working throughout Ontario and Western Canada. Establishing roots in Brandon, he was once the owner of Brandon Upholstery and then worked at Inventronics for over 25 years until his retirement in October 2009. Harry was a true outdoorsman and family man. During the winter months, he would be riding his snowmobile or out ice-fishing. Summers were spent camping in the Turtle Mountain area and of course fall was "hunting season". He was a man of few words but valued friendship, and the people that he loved. James Harry Grubb is survived by his beloved partner, Jocelyne Trembley, his daughter Sandi and her husband Rob; his son Stacy and his wife Alana; his step-son Darren and his wife Tracey; his step-daughter Melissa and her husband Jason; his grandchildren, Emily, Abby, Riley, Jacob, Jackson, Kyra and Ellie. He is also survived by his brother Chester and Mae; his sister Marilyn and Michael; his sister Janet and Randy; his brother Richard and Donna; his brother Ken and Rose; and all of his extended family. He was predeceased by his wife Lois; his father and mother, Riel and Evelyn and his daughter, Sharon. A Celebration of Harry's Life was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on February 23, 2011. Donations in memory of Harry may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, "Western MB Cancer Care Project," 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB R7A 2B3. The family would like to thank everyone for their support and well-wishes during this very difficult time. James Harry Grubb is gone but he will never be forgotten. God Bless.
