Mary-Lou, John, Steven and Robbie:
I'm so sorry to hear of Leo's sudden passing. I enjoyed so many years caring for your boys and often find myself thinking of them as I raise my own 2 children. All the drop-offs and pick-ups to and from the Collins were never a quiet ride with Leo. I remember his smile and laugh like yesterday. He was a fantastic father and would always squeeze in an extra wrestle or soccer pass before leaving for work or a night out. My prayers for comfort and strength are with you and your family during this sad time.

We were shocked to hear about Leo. What instantly came to mind was his infectious smile and sense of humour. I will never forget the times spent in Brantford making tomato sauce and sausage, and drinking wine. My family didnt get to know Leo the way I did but I've been doing my best to tell the stories the best I can. It really hurts is all I can say and I hope God hold yours you hand through this tought time.
Take care and we love you.

Dear Mary-Lou,
The sad news of Leo's death only reached me this morning. Too often in life, we lose touch with people we care about. I regret that this was the case with Leo, whom I have not seen in over 20 years.
I have been telling my own boys about Leo today, and many fond memories have come flooding back to me. We shared many ball hockey games, sporting events, Outward Bound trips, and so many parties, dances and other happy outings together while we were at Twin Lakes. I have been talking about how Leo always made a positive impact on the people around him, and how lucky I feel to have known him.
I will never forget Leo's love of life, his infectious grin, and his passion for the people and the things that he loved. We are all better people for having known him.
Please accept my deep condolences. While Sue and I have never met your boys, our thoughts and prayers are with them as well. I hope that these words will be some solace to you in the coming months.
Sincerely, Rob Lewis – Ottawa.

My deepest sympathies for your loss. I haven't seen Leo for many years but he and his brothers were such an important part of my childhood and adolescence. I can remember baseball in the Collins' backyard, ball hockey next to the bowling alley, playing hide and seek, and going to elementary and high school together.
It is clear that Leo has continued to be a wonderful friend and a loving spouse and parent. It is not surprising then that even those of us who haven't seen him for more than 25 years, still have the most incredible memories of his friendship.
My sincerest sympathies to Leo's immediate family and my love to Kevin, Joe and Mrs. Collins at this very sad time.

Mary Lou, my deepest sympathies to you and the boys for your loss.
I can not imagine how you all must be feeling at this time.
My sympathies also go out to Kevin and Joey who have lost their brother. The Collins brothers have always been close knit crew.
Growing up, Leo was always a happy loving kid, always smiling (sometimes because he was up to no good:)) We spent many Christmas's together as the boys would arrive a few of days before Christmas and we were all amazed that Santa found them at their aunts.
When Leo grew up, he kept the happy disposition and from the looks of his legacy, it served him well.
We can all learn from Leo in the way he approached his day to day life and benefit from his life lessons.

I only have the fondest memories of Leo and am shocked and saddened of his passing.
I have so many good memories of him from our high school days in Orillia, and I have thought of him many times over the years. He taught me how to play backgammon, and my children have grown up eating his mushroom soup chicken recipe! The two memories that stand out the most, were the Halloween Dance when we dressed up as a 6 pack of beer bottles with four other friends, and of course him and I being King and Queen of the Twin Lakes Prom!
Reading through all these messages, it seemed that Leo had not changed, and that he still had a huge heart, a great sense of humour and smile that could light up a room. My heart goes out to his wife Mary Lou and their 3 boys, and also his brothers Kevin and Joe(y). Know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers to have the strength to get through this most difficult time.

Dad has kept us aware of Leo's success and accomplishments and the wonderful hospitality they enjoyed when visiting on their cross-country treks. They hold your family in high esteem as do your many friends and colleagues, I'm sure.

Dear Mary Lou and family:
Words alone cannot express our sympathy on the untimely death of your beloved husband, father, brother and friend. To say that his time with us was far too short is an understatement. The reality is that he will be sorely missed by all who loved and knew him.
No doubt the outpouring of sympathy you have received has been of some consolation. Hopefully it will serve as a reminder to you of how well-loved he was.
In having conversations with many people over the last few days, it is remarkable the positive impact and impressions that he made with people that he had brief encounters and interactions with. Those of us that had the opportunity to be part of Leo's life for longer periods of time were honoured.
I will remember Leo for the many fun times and laughs that we had but more imoprtantly his commitments: to work; to his friends; to his faith; and most importantly to his family.
God bless you and your wonderful family.

Please know how very sorry we are to hear of Leo's passing. He was such a fun loving and fun person to be around and we will miss him. Memories of Brantford are full of how our two families were connected and the good times we had. May you find comfort in the days ahead and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
