Obituary of Larry Charles Luckins

On Sunday, August 7, 2011 at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home in Wawanesa, Manitoba, Larry Charles Luckins passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer at 73 years of age. Larry was born in Sarnia, Ontario on October 29, 1937. Upon completing his high school education in Southern Ontario, he moved to Comox, BC, to join the Air Force for a few years as a Military Police Officer. On September 18, 1964, Larry married Mabel and they lived mainly throughout Ontario and Manitoba. He was a successful retail manger for such places as 7-11, Co-op and Economart. Larry enjoyed nature watching, gardening, and fishing, but his love of music was a constant from a young age. He was the drummer and band manager for the self named band, "Lucas McCain and the Fire Strings." The band started out at the LaSalle Hotel in Winnipeg. Larry is survived by Mabel, wife of 44 years; his children Deena, Richard (Deena), Jody (Diane) and William (Talea); grandchildren Daniel III, Katherine, Bryndal, Dillon, Sienna and Jorja; great grandchildren Ava and Isabella as well as his sisters, nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his parents, William and Alice, brothers Daniel I and Darold "Pete", and son Daniel II. A Service of Remembrance to honour Larry's life took place at Brockie Donovan Chapel on Friday, August 12, 2011 with Pastor Jason Zinko officiating. A private family interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery.
