Ken was born on June 14, 1925, to Fred and Gertie Seafoot of Carroll MB. Ken was a radar operator on a Corvette in the RC Navy in WWII. After the war, Ken returned to his father's farm at Carroll during the summer, to work and play ball. Ken sharpened his cooking skills through the winters of 1945 – 1948 by working at Salisbury House in Winnipeg, where on the dance floor he met a Normal School student, Eleanor Patterson. In 1949, he bought a farm and married Eleanor on October 22. After gaining some car sales experience at Canadian Motors, a Ford-Mercury car dealership was bought in Virden in 1962. In 1972, Ken became the Supervisor of Transportation and Maintenance for Forte la Bosse School Division until his retirement in 1986. Baseball, curling, hunting, fishing, the Royal Canadian Legion, and the Lions Club were big parts of Ken's life. There were many stories told about playing baseball with the Riverside team, starting up the Virden Oilers team, his rise to umpire-in-chief of the MSBL, and umpiring at the Canadian National baseball championship. Ken was president of the Virden Legion. Ken was a Lions member for more than two decades and talked often about cooking at the fair booth they operated. Baseball was his true love, watching teams each spring in Phoenix, and watching his beloved Blue Jays, right up to his last few days. Funeral Services were held at Central United Church on Thursday, September 29, 2011. Interment followed at Carroll Cemetery.
