Obituary of Hazel Eileen Phipps

PHIPPS: Hazel Eileen passed away at Dinsdale Personal Care Home in Brandon on November 18, 2011. Born and educated in Brandon, the second daughter of the late William and Emma Phipps, she has resided here all her life. In 1928, she joined the firm of D. A. Ressor (Jeweler 1882-1940) during which time she studied gemology under the mentorship of the late Mr. Ressor, later becoming a buyer and in 1946 as Manageress. Then in June 1954, she established her own business known as Phipps Jewellers (the STORE OF PERSONAL SERVICE) retiring in 1970. Hazel was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Predeceased by her parents, three sisters and a brother, she is survived by sister, Mrs. Vera Twitchell, Brandon, four nieces and a nephew. A funeral service for family and friends will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 3101 Victoria Avenue, Brandon on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor E. Mielke and Pastor R. Long officiating. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery.
