Obituary of Anne Manzuik

MANZUIK: On December 9, 2011, at her residence at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home, Anne Manzuik (nee Shakotko), beloved wife of the late Joe Manzuik, passed peacefully on to her Heavenly Home with her family by her side. Anne was born at Lizard Lake, SK on February 24, 1916, to Reverend Eli and Anastasia Shakotko. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Joe, her parents Reverend Eli and Anastasia Shakotko, brothers John, Jack, Steve, and Paul, and sisters-in-law Vera and Violette. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Debbie (Bruce) Curtis; grandchildren: Jacquie (Paul) Bergman and Beckie (Steve) Cherewyk; and great-grandchildren; Nate and Silas Bergman and Amy and Ella Cherewyk. Her sisters Emma (Jack), Gillespie, Zeena (Peter) Naydiuk, Ruth (Steve) Maksymchuk, sisters-in-law Lena and Francis Shakotko and numerous nieces and nephews. Anne got her schooling at Roland Hills School at Cando, SK and moved with the family to Manitoba in 1938. Her early years were filled with hard work, fun, and some mischief. At an early age, she personally received Jesus as her savior and this relationship was very meaningful and evident. While working in Durban, MB, she met Joe Manzuik and they were married on November 1st, 1950. They had one daughter, Debbie and in 1969, this family made their home in Brandon. Anne was a wonderful homemaker who loved to cook, bake, knit, garden and can. Her cooking abilities got her jobs at the Sanitarium in Saskatoon, the hospital in Benito, Fairview Home in Brandon, 4-H Home Ec. and Madge Lake Bible Camp. Mom was a beautiful woman with a kind, gentle and quiet spirit. She was an extremely patient person and an incredible listener. She thought carefully before she spoke and shared her opinions if asked. She was a gracious and caring person who touched many people throughout her lifetime and had friends wherever they lived. Her special delight was her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anne had a positive attitude that stayed with her right to the end. The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the exceptional staff at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home for the wonderful care, compassion, and kindness given to Mom throughout the past years and also extended to our family. We warmly acknowledge those who when they had time, would sit on Mom's bed and "visit" with her, we've all been blessed by your compassion. The family of Anne Manzuik would like to thank Pastor Dan Pope, Pastor Darryl McAuley, and Pastor Earl & Mona Ricalton for their compassion and comfort shown to Mom and our family. Also, to Ken Gold from Brockie Donovan for the kindness and guidance. Thank-you to our family and friends for their ongoing support during this difficult time. A Celebration of Anne's Life will be held at the McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church, 635 McDiarmid Drive, on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Pope officiating.
