Obituary of Esther Bailey

BAILEY: Esther (née Wray). Esther passed away at her residence, Fairview Home, on Sunday, June 10, 2012. Born October 23, 1914 in Brandon, Esther was the third eldest daughter of Archie and Nancy Wray. She took her schooling in Broomhill and Tilston. She married Percy Bailey on January 29, 1938. In the spring of 1940, they moved to Elva where they farmed until the fall of 1953, when they moved to Brandon. In Brandon, Esther was an active member of First United Church and then Central United Church. She was also a member of Naomi #6 Rebekah Lodge in Brandon, having transferred from Elva. Esther was predeceased by her husband Percy in October 1982; by their son Ken and daughter Kay in December 1945; daughter Nancy in October 1952; great granddaughter Kylee Burns in February 2009; her parents; an infant brother; sisters Jean McCune, Annie Cousins, brother John; four brothers-in-law, and all of Percy's siblings and their spouses. She is survived by her daughters Lorrie (Colin) Snelgrove, Darlene (Del) Duncan; five granddaughters Nancy (Rick) Burns, Cathy Snelgrove, Penny (Iain) Riffel, Sarah Duncan, Erin Duncan; five great grandchildren Braeden Burns, Anton, Bailey, Cassidy and Dominik Riffel; two sisters Kay Halls and Eleanor Anderson; brother Bob (Maxine) Wray; sister-in-law Mabel Wray as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service to celebrate Esther's life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. A private family interment will be held prior to the service. Rev. Harvey Hurren will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Esther may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 727B-10th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4G7 or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Unit 3-824-18th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 5B7.
