Obituary of Nellie Elizabeth Pogue

POGUE: Nellie Elizabeth Pogue (née Jones) passed away peacefully on June 29, 2012 at Hillcrest Place. She was born on April 19, 1917 in Austin, MB to Joseph and Barbara Jones. Nellie married Charles Pogue in 1934 and together raised their two daughters, Mae (Phillips) and Elaine (Udell.) She took great pride in working at Brandon Hardware and retail ladies wear. At New Horizons she enjoyed cards, shuffleboard and many special friends. She also loved music, singing and belonged to the Square Dancing Club. She is survived by daughter Mae, son-in-law Bill, sister-in-law Doris Pogue and seven grandchildren Terry (Mallory) of Brandon, Patti of Kamloops, Wendell (Nancy) of Vancouver, Shayne (Leslie) and Clay of Winnipeg and Brad and Laurie of Kelowna, five great grandchildren Julie (Rossburn), Miranda (Kamloops), Christina (Brandon), Thomas and Krista (Kelowna) and many nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by her parents, husband Charles in 1980, daughter Elaine Udell in 1998, son-in-law Peter Phillips in 1991 and all seven brothers and sisters. In keeping with mom's wishes a private graveside service was held at the Brandon Cemetery on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, Arlene Robertson officiated. Flowers are gratefully declined.
