Obituary of Donald William Thickett

THICKETT: Donald William entered into eternal rest October 2, 2012. Don was born September 20, 1947 to Fred and Irene Thickett of Russell, Manitoba. In 1972, he married Gail Evans. They have two children; Douglas (Daniella) of Edmonton and Kimberly (Brian) of Brandon. His children and grandchildren were very special to him. Tyler, Jenna and Brianna brought many smiles to his face. Raised on the family farm west of Russell, outdoor adventures were his passion. He went for many walks in the valley near his childhood home. The cabin at Oak Lake provided many happy times with family and friends and more quiet walks to enjoy nature. Don worked for the Jacobson family for the majority of his life. He volunteered at Trinity United Church as a leader in the scouting program and as treasurer for several years. Don has two sisters: Bev (Terry) of Comox, BC, Wilma (Shane) of Winnipeg, sister-in-law Joyce (Tim) of Estevan, mother-in-law Verna (Willis) of Brandon, two nephews, Dale of Edmonton and Brad (Kirsten) of Edmonton and great nephew, Avery. A graveside service was held October 9, 2012 at the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Don may be made to the Trinity United Church, 1515-6th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 6B3 or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8.
