Obituary of Olive Tod

TOD: Olive Tod (Dickenson) entered her rest to await her Lord's return on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at her residence, Dinsdale Personal Care Home. Olive was born on June 15, 1908 near Elkhorn, Manitoba where she lived until age five when her father died. She then moved to Scotland with her mother, who was Scottish. Olive returned to Canada at age 21 just as the depression started. Unable to find work after 18 months, she returned to Scotland to the Angus and Dundee area. While living in Canada, she had met Malcolm (Mack) Tod, whom she later married when he came to Scotland. They returned to Canada in 1947, to Brandon. Olive worked as a Nurse's Aide at the original Assiniboine Centre in Brandon for 25 years. Olive was a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She also attended the Women's Home League of the Salvation Army. Olive loved to read and knit. A passion she had was "ingathering" for over 50 years for ADRA (Adventist Development and Relief Agency). Olive loved to help the less fortunate. She also loved to travel. Olive is survived by son Don Tod, daughter Betty Worley, grandchildren Naomi, David, Joseph, as well as her great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Malcolm (Mack) Tod. A Service to Celebrate Olive's Life will be held at Dinsdale Personal Care Home, 510-6th Street, on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Olive may be made to ADRA Canada (Adventist Development and Relief Agency), 1148 King Street East, Oshawa, Ontario, L1H 1H8, or to a charity of choice.
