Obituary of Jeanne Flay

FLAY: On Monday, January 21, 2013, Jeanne passed away in the Penticton General Hospital. Jeanne was born in Essex, England on July 8, 1918. She moved to Canada in 1920. At an early age she became involved in the Brandon Kiddies Choir. This marked the beginning of her long-term love affair with choir music. Jeanne directed the "Hilltoppers," Prairie Oasis Seniors Choir and helped organize the Senior Revue (1977-1992). Jeanne loved theatre productions and made significant contributions to live entertainment in Brandon. She was involved with the Traveller's Day Parade - applying make-up to the clowns. Jeanne married Eric Greenlaw in 1940. Their only daughter, Patricia, was born in 1941. Jeanne was employed for 35 years at BMHC, retiring in 1983 as a Personnel Officer. She was proud of her role at BMHC. In 1962, Jeanne married George Flay. Together, they created J & G Ranch, where they gardened, appreciated nature, and did a lot of entertaining at the fire pit. Jeanne moved to OK Falls, B.C. in 1993. Her final move was to Penticton, B.C. into Sun Village where she resided until her passing. Jeanne is survived by her daughter Pat Nostwold of Prince George, B.C., daughter-in-law Etta Flay of Brandon and stepson Bruce (Judi) Flay of Winnipeg. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, George Flay (1991), stepson, Morgan Flay (2000) and son-in-law, Con Nostwold in 2010. A Celebration of Jeanne's Life will be held on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Riverbank Discovery Centre in the multi-purpose room from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Brockie Donovan Funeral Celebrant, Kim Lewarne, will officiate.
