Obituary of Robert Parisien

PARISIEN: Robert Joseph Donat Parisien of Brandon, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on February 24, 2013 at the age of 44 years. Robert was born on March 29, 1968 in Hawkesbury, Ontario. He grew up in L'Orginal, Ontario, and attended L'Orginal elementary school, and high school in Hawkesbury, Ontario. Bob actively played all sports, street hockey and baseball were his favorites. He was a good public speaker, and at a young age he won his first local contest. Bob worked for the church as a caretaker at the age of 12, then went onto work at a convenience store. As a young boy, he was a club boy scout and throughout his younger years an altar server. Bob also acted as a United Way campaign organizer, a baseball coach, a Helping Hands volunteer and a Knights of Columbus member. He completed a career of 24 years in the military and he also worked part time for various trucking companies. Bob loved to help people in any way, acting as a driver to anyone to anywhere. He loved to deliver meals and chat with the needy, to serve the church and visit the sick. Bob is survived by his wife, Melinda and their children, Harlie, Daelen and Rohan and his parents Ghislaine and Denis. Robert was predeceased by his grandparents the Chevriers and Parisiens. Prayers were said for Robert at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on February 28, 2013. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church on March 1, 2013 with Fr. Kevin Smith as Celebrant. Pallbearers were Daniel Parisien, Ernest Surman, Denis Sabourin, Alain Parisien, Francis Simard and Daelen Parisien. Interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Robert may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation "Palliative Care," 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3 or to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 327-4th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 3E5.
