I have worked in CFB Shilo since 78, and have dealt with Don for years through work. In the late 80's we discovered we both had bikes, so that became part of our conversations. Then I got into coaching my daughters curling, and curling became a regular part of every conversation. He taught me my second level coaching. I always enjoyed our talks. He will be missed.

Dear Nancy and Family, it was with much sadness to have learned of Don's recent passing. I first met Donnie, as we only ever knew him by back in the late 1950s and early 1960s, during our school days at Alexandra Elementary School in Brandon! Through our growing-up years and then as adults, I only ever remember Don as being friendly, polite, and just a really nice person! He will be missed by the many people whose lives he has touched, but will surely be remembered by them all. May your many memories bring you comfort during this time of sadness. I hope it helps somewhat to know that others are keeping you all close in thought, today and in the days to come. At our 2013 Gathering of 1960s Brandon Girls being held this September, we are having a special tribute for 1960s Brandon Boys who have passed away from the 1960s to 2013. Don's name will be included on the Remembrance List for this special tribute. He is with us still, in spirit. ~ Kindest personal regards, Donna

Just saw Donnie at Elkhorn a few weeks ago at our grandsons hockey Provincials and he looked great, but mentioned he had not been well. His passing was a shock. I remember him as a young guy hanging around the South End. He did a lot of work for my employer, the RCMP and was well respected for his work and integrity. From what he told me he had a life well lived and will be missed by his friends and especially his family. He was a good guy to know. I am sure on the way up he had the right key to the stairway, or the correct security code!

I am sad to hear of Don's passing and condolences to Nancy and the family. As a national ranked curling umpire, Don was one of the best, a true professional well respected by the curlers and other umpires. Don's approach has helped shape the provincial umpiring program and can be seen in the umpires he trained. I am proud to have worked with Don at several events. He will be missed.

Nancy and family, so very sorry to hear of Dons passing! He was such a nice and friendly man, always asked about Lisa and Kevin whenever I saw him.
As the days go on it gets easier and remember all those special memories and that will help you all get through these difficult days and the rest of the days ahead!
If you need to talk I'm just a phone call away and I will keep in touch!
Sincerely, Karen
