Obituary of Clifford Merke

MERKE: Clifford Merke of Brandon, MB, passed away at the Virden Hospital on Saturday, December 5, 2020. Clifford was born on January 23, 1936 on the family farm in the Beaver District near Westbourne, MB. He was the second child of Fred and Dora Merke. Clifford grew up on the farm and continued farming with his brother, until moving to his own place near Portage la Prairie. After selling this property to make way for the Portage Diversion he moved to Brandon and worked as a contractor. In Clifford’s later years he became a resident of Rideau Park Personal Care home, where he was well cared for and happy. Clifford was predeceased by his parents, his only sibling and brother, Wilfred and nephew, Jeff. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Adeline Merke-Good and her husband, Bob, niece, Terrie Mikulasik (Steve) and three nephews, Greg (Shelley), Todd (Julie), and Guy and their families, as well as many cousins. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a private Graveside Service will be held at Beaver Creek Cemetery.
