Gwen Guadron – Hummingbird Woman

June 22, 1979 – December 5, 2020

GUADRON: It is with great sorrow the family announces the passing of Gwen at the age of 41.  Gwen was born in The Pas, MB to Mariam and Marlin Thies. The Pas was where she spent most of her childhood. Gwen was the youngest child; the family remembers how she wanted to be big like her brother and sister. To be as big as them she would raise her arms up high and say: “so big.” As a child Gwen is remembered for her mischievous personality, many times you heard Mariam and Marlin sternly voice “GWEDOLYN” and Gwen would give her most innocent “I didn’t do it.” Gwen was a very smart child and loved to make people laugh with her silly antics and pranks.  With cousins Jenny, Erika, Reggie, and sister Char, Gwen would get into all kinds of mischief. Gwen’s easy going playful nature helped her to make friends throughout her life. Gwen’s twinkling eyes and big smile were part of her friendly caring personality and will be missed by all who knew.

At 15 years of age, Gwen moved to Brandon with her mother. Brandon became the home where she would raise her children and meet her future husband. Gwen’s children Coles Thies, Julian Legace, Torrie Legace and Roslyn Legace were her pride and joy. Later, her grandchildren Gemma and Peyton would be a source of great love and joy. Gwen completed her high school credits and graduated in 2006. Gwen met the love of her life Rafael Guadron in 2005 and married him in 2013. Sadly, she was only able to meet her mother-in-law, Concepcion Martinez from El Salvador by phone.  Gwen was so proud of the home she and Raffa purchased together, she spent many summer days drinking coffee and smoking with visitors on her deck.  

Among the many things she enjoyed doing, talking was the thing family and friends remember her for. Gwen was an artist and particularly good at creating her drawings. She also liked to bake but, making gifts for her family members particularly at Christmas was a crafting activity that excited her. As a little girl Gwennie loved playing with make-up, later she learned how to do nails and spent many hours doing her make-up and nails. Gwen’s cousins remember how they would spend many hours listening to music with her.  Raffa and Gwen enjoyed attending church activities and services. Gwen leaves many funny and happy memories with her loved ones.

Gwen is survived by her husband, Rafael Guadron; her children, Cole, Julian, Torrie, and Roslyn; her grandchildren, Gemma and Peyton. Her parents: mother, Mariam Thies; father Marlin Thies (Judy); mother-in-Law, Concepcion Martinez;  paternal grandmother; Grace Thies;  siblings, Jason (Heather), Charlena (Quentin), Erin (Dan) and Cheryl (Jeremy); sisters-in-law, Cristina, Rosibel, Sandra, Berta, Reina and Isabel; nephews and nieces, Tristan Thies, Gabe, Morgan, Jessica, and Ally Pielak. Gwen will be missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins, extend family and friends who were all a part of her life.

Predeceasing relatives were: grandpa, Alvin Thies; maternal grandparents, Samuel and Jessie Constant; father-in-Law, Rafael Guadron Sr.; aunties, Mary Constant and Cynthia Thies; uncle, Henry Constant; cousins, Ryan Thies and Brayden Ducharme.    

Gwen’s family would like to acknowledge Raffa’s best friend Alexis for his support during this very difficult time.

Gwen’s family: Rafael, mom Mariam, dad Marlin and siblings, Jason and Charlena, would like to thank all family for providing support: Thies Clan, uncles, Bill and Pete, Aunty Ida, Nephew Georgie and wife Rachel, and the rest of the Ducharme family and all who helped out in some way.

A private funeral service will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel on Saturday, December 12, 2020.
