Obituary of Marion Zdebiak

ZDEBIAK: Marion Elsie Zdebiak. July 7, 1929 – February 16, 2021. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marion Zdebiak on February 16, 2021 at the Bren-Del-Win Lodge in Deloraine, MB at the age of 91. Marion was born in Sandy Lake, MB and attended grades 1-12 in Elphinstone. She went on to Teacher’s College in Winnipeg and upon graduating taught for the next four years. She married the love of her life, Tony Zdebiak on July 30, 1953 and together they farmed in the Strathclair area for several years. Marion loved flowers and together she and Tony created a gorgeous garden paradise for which they received several awards. In 1989, they sold their farm and built a new home in Sandy Lake where they lived for 14 years. Their passion for landscaping continued and they developed another beautiful yard. They also loved spending time at their cabin at Thomas Lake and enjoyed several road and bus trips to various destinations in Canada and the U.S. In 2003, they moved to Brandon into the Village Green complex. They made many new friends and enjoyed social activities, playing cards, and going on bus trips to various casinos. Marion enjoyed sewing, reading, and baking. Her freezer was always full of delicious goodies. She especially loved crossword puzzles and was passionate about watching her favourite curlers on TV. Marion was predeceased by her husband Tony in 2018, her parents Mike and Carrie Domanski, Tony’s nephew Walter Zdebiak and his wife Annette, as well as several sister and brothers-in-law. Left to mourn her passing are her niece Debbie Smiley and her husband Doug, her close friends, and other distant relatives. Special thanks to the staff at Bren-Del-Win Lodge for their exceptional kindness and compassionate care. Thanks as well to the staff from Unit A2 at the Assiniboine Center for the wonderful care Marion received for six months. As per Marion’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marion’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 4B-457-9^th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 1K2.
