Obituary of Aeriel Ramsey

RAMSEY: Aeriel Kade Ramsey. August 24, 1992 – April 25, 2021. It is with heart wrenching sadness to announce the sudden passing of Aeriel Kade Ramsey on April 25, 2021. She was 28 years old. Aeriel was born at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba on August 24, 1992, to Harvey and Tammy.  They moved from Winnipeg to a small hobby farm near Libau, Manitoba when Aeriel was 3 years of age. It was then that it became evident that Aeriel had a passion for nature and animals. Tammy, Aeriel, and new brother Cole moved to Elkhorn, Manitoba, when Aeriel was 6. She had attended Happy Thought school in Selkirk for kindergarten and part of grade one, and completed grade one in Elkhorn School where she would stay until graduation of grade twelve. During her adolescence Aeriel participated in Brownies, Girl Guides 4-H light horse division, swimming lessons, took piano lessons and played the clarinet. Aeriel attended photography school for a short while in Winnipeg after high school graduation before homesickness set in and she returned to Elkhorn. She continued to challenge herself with learning photography and did many photo shoots for friends and family. Aeriel loved photography and continued to capture stunning images throughout her adult life. She attended Assiniboine Community College and obtained a TESOL certificate. When Aeriel was a teenager, she would often be found spending the night on the trampoline, or in the box of the truck, so that she could star gaze, be amongst the call of the coyotes and the croaking of the frogs; nature was her calling, and the sounds were her melody. She would light up during a storm and could be found out in the pouring rain joyfully dancing through puddles. She was a vivacious yet frugal young woman, one who viewed impractical items as a waste of money. Aeriel was excellent at getting the most out of living a minimalist lifestyle. She was a quick study, and she was always surprising her friends and family with the latest thing that she wanted to try out.  As an adult she took up knitting, macrame, gardening, baking, cooking, growing exotic plants, and helping to fix her own vehicle. She took pride in her endeavours and created the most delicious meals with, and for her family. Her macarons and salsa were legendary.  Aeriel was willing to work at any job so that she could save her money to put towards her travelling dream. Aeriel had worked at AFM, and several serving jobs, with a few quickly turning into a position in management. By far Aeriel’s favorite jobs were working for a green house, with her all-time favourite job being when she worked for the city, spending all day outside watering plants and flowers.  Aeriel married her high school sweetheart Alex, in 2018. They travelled and gardened and grew together. Aeriel and Alex bought their first home in Brandon the same year they married, and Aeriel also enrolled in a full course load at Brandon University. Despite despising school, Aeriel put forth all her effort into her studies and maintained an A average throughout her schooling. Aeriel’s hard work paid off as a student and she was placed on the Dean’s honor roll in the last term of 2021.  She majored in English and Geography, with plans to pursue a degree in Education. Aeriel also worked for Brandon University as a tutor for students through disability services, during the 2021 school year. In years past she had volunteered at Westman Immigration Services after attaining a certificate in TESOL and loved her time teaching English as a second language to individuals immigrating to Brandon.  Aeriel had traveled extensively during her lifetime and had visited and lived in countries such as New Zealand, the United States, Cuba, Jamaica, South East Asia, several countries in Europe, and Ireland. She loved travelling and always had “wanderlust” while back in Canada.  Everything and everyone she touched was better for it, as if life itself sprung from her fingertips and spread out into the world. Aeriel was an extraordinary woman, she was kind, funny, and smart, an overall amazing person and friend. She had a way of making your day better and brighter. Her smile and laughter were infectious, she was easy to be around, easy to talk to, and easy to love. When Aeriel came up with an adventure, you never knew what would happen, but you could bet you would get some fantastic memories and a great story. Aeriel will always be a person who lived life to the fullest, taking every opportunity to see and experience whatever she could. Her seize the day attitude was admired greatly by her friends. She had the amazing ability to make everyone she met feel special, seen, and appreciated for exactly who they were. She respected people’s uniqueness and was drawn to them based on who they were in their hearts and minds, rather than for other more trivial attributes. She loved her friends, family, and animals with all of her being. Aeriel was a person you may only meet once in your lifetime, a truly unique and special young woman. Aeriel is survived by her loving husband Alex Bohrn, their dog Henry, and cat Bernie, her parents Tammy and Harvey (Carolyn), brother Cole, (Sam) as well as extended family on both sides. Aeriel will be missed by the countless friends she has made, and the unlimited number of hearts she has touched in her lifetime. There will be a celebration of Aeriel’s life in the upcoming months; with announcement of date to follow. Donations may be made in Aeriel’s name, if people so choose, to any foundation focused on the environment or for the well being of animals.
