Obituary of Lorraine Crawford
Lorraine Crawford
May 15, 1946 – September 22, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who passed away peacefully in Brandon, Manitoba on September 22, 2021. She now joins her husband of 50 years (Kelvin) and their Border Collie (Rockzee) in heaven. Lorraine is survived by her children, Laurie (Debbie), Colleen (Lance), and Christy (Arturo); her cherished grandchildren, Carly (Justin), Josh (Reilly), Cameron (Michelle), and Daryn; her great grandchildren, Abby and Olivia; her sister-in-law, Beth (Neil); her step mother, Sophie; and her brothers, sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorraine had many lifelong friends that she considered family, including Pat, Clem and Maryann, Ron and Carolynn, and Marylee, Wade and Laura, and Rick and Monie. She enjoyed the time she spent with her friends in Gimli and they became very dear to her; they shared so many laughs and special memories. Lorraine was born on May 15, 1946 in Edmonton, Alberta. She was predeceased by her parents William and Vera Melnychuk. Lorraine worked at Bristol Aerospace for many years, until she eventually retired to spend more time with family and friends. She enjoyed golfing, cooking for her loved ones, and travelling to Mexico with her friend Jackie to avoid Manitoba's cold winters. She was an avid sports fan and loved curling, football, and hockey. In her spare time, she liked to cook for the residents at the Gimli New Horizons 55+ Centre. The family would like to thank the staff at the Brandon Regional Health Centre Palliative Care Unit for their compassionate and attentive care during the brief but difficult period that led to Lorraine's passing. During her stay in Brandon, she always looked forward to seeing her lunch buddy Arturo, who gave her foot massages and wheelchair rides. A special thank you to Dr. Fourie, Dr. Minders, Dr. Dhalla, and Dr. Edward for their expert and considerate medical care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation – Palliative Care Unit, 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3. We will forever cherish the wonderful times, unforgettable moments, and amazing meals that we shared with her. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
