DANIELSON: Roderick Daniel Danielson (Sonny) passed away peacefully with family at his side at the Souris Health Centre on November 12, 2021 at 89 years of age.


Rod will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Gisela Danielson (nee Buehler); children, Brad (Deanna) Danielson, Ivy (Lloyd) Turner, Trudy (Tony) Joy, grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Rod was predeceased by his parents, sisters, and their husbands, Beatrice (Harry) and Blanche (Harold).


Rod was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Magnus and Eleanor Danielson of Arborg, Manitoba on September 3, 1932.  He was educated in Arborg and in 1955 took over the operation of the family business; “Danielson’s Garage”.  In 1965, Rod entered teacher’s training which led to employment at Red River Community College. In 1966, he took a Heavy Duty Mechanics Instructor position at Assiniboine Community College.  Over the years Rod held various positions at ACC including Chairman of Industrial Technical, Acting Dean, and Dean of Community Programs until his retirement.  Rod and Gisela also accepted postings in Kenya, Pakistan and Tanzania.


Rod and Gisela loved to travel – from the East to the West enjoying retirement and visiting family and friends.


Rod (Dad) will be dearly missed.


A Celebration of Rod’s Life will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. In compliance with Public Health Orders, proof of full vaccination will be required to attend. 


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Souris Health Centre - Palliative Care, Box 10, Souris, MB, R0K 2C0.
