To Patti and family. We are so terribly sorry for the loss of your brother Scott. We were connected to him years ago in the minor hockey world. I got to know him better this last couple of years at Oak Lake beach. I walked with a friend almost daily and on those walks we would meet Scott and Oggie. He was such a great guy to visit with us. When we were meeting he would let Oggie off leash so he could come running to us for fussing and hugs. Oggie was as happy to see us as we were to see him and Scott. Scott always took time for a chat. We were distraught when we heard of his tragic death. We have happy memories of our chats and the of the kind friendly person that he was. He will be dearly missed by the Beach community and others like us who lived close by. We were so concerned for Oggie when his "dad" was gone. The neighbors have told us he's in good care. Our sincere condolences to you and to his friend Niki. Just know he left great memories for all. Sharon and Ted Taylor

Patti and family, close friends.....
Our family and yours were close neighbours for many years, and Scott and Mike started Kindergarten together, going through school, toboganing, biking, & playing games at each other's homes. Scott was always such a great polite kid.
We were all shocked, so sorry to hear of his life being taken far too soon.
He is remembered by many who played ball or hockey with him. Rest in peace Scooter.
Sincere sympathy,
Dot Burgess and family.

Still reeling from the news that we have all so tragically lost our friend and brother from another mother, Scott! Deepest condolences to family and friends. So many great memories of Scooter and the times we had while growing up! Those memories, so often centering around games of hockey, ball, and golf, but also including long weekend trips to the lake, countless Socials, any one of a million house parties, and living together as roommates at “the crease”…affectionately named such by the three of us goalies living there. As we aged, and the kilometres between us grew, a return trip home was never complete without an “afternoon hockey” session or a round of golf with Scooter. There were always festivities afterwards, of course, and I can still hear his laughter while we traded stories, both old and new, of good times, travel, and exciting things to come. So grateful to have many happy memories to cherish but saddened to know the making of new ones together is now delayed…here’s to hoping we meet up again brother! Love ya!

Scotty is a great friend for over 40 years. Love the man. No matter what we were doing, it involved fun and laughter. I have so many great memories of great times with Scooter. He is also a great goaltender and teammate who always gives it his best and loves to compete. He never lets you down as a friend or a teammate. In our early years, we’d stop by the house to pick up Scotty, say hi to his mom and then quickly help his dad prune a tree or two before we’d head out. I can’t say good bye buddy, I will see you again.
My deepest sympathy to Patti and family.

I’m very shocked and sad to hear this news. I went to high school with Scott then moved away shortly after. This photo is how I will always remember him. A big smile, surrounded by friends. We had some great parties, shared memories, and lots of watching him and his friends play hockey. I can’t begin to express my sincere condolences to his family and friends. I hope one day the pain will subside and the great memories will remain.

What a very unfortunate waste of an incredibly solid individual. Now you finally know the truth you were a way better goalie than BJ! You will be missed and thought of often by many.

To say we lost one of the greats would be a huge understatement. It is with disbelief and shock I write this.
Scooter
I grew up and went to school with you in the East End. A smart one you were whom I made sure to sit behind or across from . I knew with your brain and my ability to copy we’d make it to Crocus for sure. Thanks again. I was no dummy.
You were a natural athlete who basically could do anything. Your hand-eye coordination was above everyone. Rarely were you to be beat in ping pong, badminton, or anything that involved a racquet. I know this cause I ate many of your smashes.
Lots of great memories of road trips out to the many rural towns to play hockey. I will always remember one time where you had the night off and were working the gate. My line was out next, I stood beside you as we watched Coxy in slow motion take it from our end and stick handle through the whole team with one hand on his stick and the other hand used for balance while pushing guys out of the way and then finally putting it in. We couldn’t believe it and laughed so hard at that. The funnier part was that we were all in the Unwinder earlier that afternoon.
Everyone speaks of your humour and your ability to have the room…….they are right. You took a kitchen party to the next level my friend. So many stories and laughs to be told which I know will be shared this summer.
I know your dogs were a big part of your life and you always had one. You gave many dogs a good life.
That Friday afternoon you had sent me a message with your condolences of my mothers passing and said
”welcome to the orphanage” you made me laugh once again, classic and always you. Never thinking this would be our last conversation. Rest easy Scooter. You are missed.

I have been away from Brandon for many years. I was always excited to play volleyball when Scooter was on our team. I felt sorry for the people on the other team that had to get out of the way when Scott hit the ball. I remember him always out walking his dogs. Always having a smile on his face, always wanting to help everyone. Heaven has gained another amazing angel.

I am still in disbelief and shock over this senseless tragedy. Scott was great hockey competitor. I certainly enjoyed playing hockey with Scott rather than against him, even though I knew I could beat him glove hand high!! Many memories and laughter hanging out with Scott. RIP my friend.

I have not lived in Brandon for 30 years, but I treasure the memories I have with Scott whether it was at school, a party, or if it was just a group of people getting together. He had such an incredible sense of humour that was the envy of those who knew him. He was a such a fun loving guy who always seemed to bring humour to a situation no matter how dismal it seemed: A truly genuine person who cared deeply for friends and was a true competitor when it came to hockey that he was always so passionate about. It seems like it’s only yesterday that he was cracking jokes and having everyone rolling around on the floor. Hard to say goodbye to this one! Deeply saddened and shocked of the news. Condolences to his family and those friends whose lives he enriched.

Scooter!! So many great memories! Starting with playing minor hockey and those years working at McDonalds hamming it up flipping burgers during high school. Hanging out evenings and weekends riding around in your bug staying out late having the times of our lives with our guy friends and girl friends. Living together as roommates on Frederick street continuing on with the good times feeling so free. Loved the wrestling matches, that Scooter would always win! The fun and uncontrollable laughter we had brought me to tears, often. Great memories of a great guy. Luv Gordon Hay

So sorry for your loss Patti and family.
I first met Scott in 1971 when our family moved to the East End two doors away from your family. We quickly became great friends!
I fondly recall many days playing street hockey in the lane behind your house along with my brother Mark and Rob C.
Although, we didn’t see each other regularly, I always enjoyed our chats when we bumped into each other in Canadian Tire!
Scott was a great guy! He’ll be missed.
