Betty Town

Obituary of Betty Town

TOWN: Betty Town, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the age of 92 years.

Born Betty Morrish in 1929, she spent her childhood on a farm near Hamiota before her family moved to Brandon. After finishing school, she eventually married Robert Town in 1949. As their family grew, Betty became an integral part of the Town Market Garden, which played a pivotal role in Brandon's North End Community. Countless Brandonites owe their work ethic to the Garden and were touched by Betty's generosity and support. With their sons grown and starting families of their own, Betty and Robert built and retired to a scenic country home on the edge of Grand Valley. This location became the centre of the Town Family for years to come. Every Sunday supper, birthday, and holiday was hosted there with warmth and love.

Betty loved sewing, cooking, gardening, camping, and most anything outdoors, but above all else, she loved her family. Her quiet wisdom and strength is what held the family together through the good times and bad; such as the loss of her son Dennis Town (d. 1994), sister Barbara Satterthwaite (d. 2000), and husband Robert (d. 2015).

Everyone Betty helped to raise can trace what is kind and good in them back to her. To her immeasurable credit, nothing but a positive influence has been left on every life that crossed her path.

She will be remembered with all the love in their hearts by her immediate family: son Dave and Sally, grandchildren: Nathan (Pinto) and Sandra, Ryan (Tucker) and Cindy, Jeff, Tim and Justine, and great-grandson Aidan.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Dinsdale Personal Care Home for their tenderness and support during Betty's twilight year.
