Obituary of Shirley McLeod

MCLEOD: With sadness the family announces the death of Shirley McLeod on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Rideau Park Personal Care Home in Brandon, Manitoba at the age of 85 years. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Jacqueline and Cindy (Gord); her grandchildren, Adam, Dustin and Darcie; great grandchildren, Madison and Bella, along with her younger sister, Phyllis. She was predeceased by her father, Roy; mother, Angeline; sister, Irene; brothers, Ivan and Ron; nephew, Marty and niece, Sharon. Shirley was born in Harte, Manitoba on July 20, 1936. She chose teaching as a career and had great success as a teacher for over 50 years. She started teaching at 17 years of age and worked hard for many years to complete her Bachelor of Education. She believed strongly in lifelong learning and achieved her certification in Special Education. Shirley had many interests: she loved gardening, baking, cooking and entertaining. She loved to travel, played many instruments and enjoyed singing. She was also an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling and many recreational activities. She also had many close friendships throughout the years – Martha, Doris, Marg, Marie, Manjit and Carole. She also had great love for her extended family and was always keen to gather and celebrate or take fun trips. Mom got very ill over the last few years of her life and for our family this was a difficult and sad time. We are grateful that mom is no longer suffering, and will remember all the good times we shared.  A private family gathering will be held in the spring and interment will take place then.
