McDONALD: It is with great sadness, the family announces the passing of our beloved Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa and Husband, John (Jack) David McDonald. Jack passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 13, 2022 at Oxbow, SK at the age of 97 years. Jack was born on the farm in the R.M. of Daly on January 2, 1925 to Katherine and Hector McDonald. He spent his early years on the farm before moving to Brandon and married his first wife, Helen Watt in 1953 and soon became a father of 2 children, Kim and Cindy. He worked various jobs in Brandon and enjoyed hitting up all the dance spots, curling, and golfing.  He married Margaret (Peggy) Lacy in 1985. They resided in Brandon for a few more years before moving to Winnipeg .  

 

Jack is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peggy) McDonald; children, Kim McDonald and Cindy (Stephen) Ward; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Dallas) McCauley, Kayne (Jenna Voth) Ward, Krystofer Ward and Kylar Ward; great- grandchildren, Madisynn, Piper, Caebri and Leo; brother, Lloyd McDonald; sisters-in-law, Marg McDonald, Tari Jones and Vyvian Anderson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Jack is predeceased by his parents, William and Katherine McDonald; brothers, Alexander, Angus (Marie), Wallace, Glen (Bernie); sister-in-law, Helen (Roland) Vannon and former wife, Helen Watt.

 

Jack was an amazing, very caring man to all his family and friends. He was very proud of his children and grandkids and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A private Funeral Service to celebrate Jack’s life will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332 8th Street, Brandon, MB on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m.  In compliance with Manitoba Health proof of full vaccination will be required to attend.

 

Donations in memory of Jack may be made to the Manitoba Habitat Heritage Corporation, 200-1765 Sargent Ave.,Winnipeg, MB, R3H 0C6 or to the CNIB, 354 10th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4G1.
