WRAY: Phyllis Wray (nee Cochran), age 80 of Brandon, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Brandon Regional Health Centre. Phyllis will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Leonard; children and spouses, Darwin (Brenda), Debra (Ron), Dallis (Tracy) and granddaughter, Emma. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Shirley, Mervyn, Donalene. She was born on June 11, 1941, in Shoal Lake to Clarence and Dorothy Cochran, the third child of four; Shirley, Mervyn, Phyllis, Donalene. Phyllis was raised in the Lavinia and Decker area and attended high school in Hamiota. After graduation, she went to teacher training at Brandon College, now Brandon University. She started teaching at Dunallen and then proceeded to teach at Newdale School. Leonard and Phyllis were married August 3, 1963 in Decker United Church and enjoyed 58 years together. They took up residence on the home quarter of NE 27-4-19 near Minto. There, they farmed and raised their three children Darwin, Deb, and Dallis on the farm until 1999, then retired to Brandon where they reside. In 2000, they celebrated the farm centennial. Over the years, you would see Phyllis taking one, two or maybe all three children to different sporting events, whether it be winter or summer. She took great pride in watching her kids, and later her granddaughter, compete in many sporting events like hockey, baseball, figure skating, and riding competitions. Phyllis was involved with many community activities including Minto United Church, Sunday School, Brownlea Good Neighbors Group, and the Foresters. Phyllis enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening, knitting, crocheting, ceramics, quilting, and baking. She will forever be remembered for having the best homemade buns. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity United Church, 1515 6th Street, Brandon, MB on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Donations may be made in memory of Mum to the Manitoba/Nunavut Chapter of the Crohns and Colitis Canada, PO Box 58039 Bishop Grandin PO, Winnipeg MB, R2M 2R6.
