Obituary of Joyce Dorreen McClelland

MCCLELLAND: Joyce Dorreen McClelland (née Campbell) passed away in Brandon on Friday, July 15, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband Louis Podruski in 1989; her 2nd husband, Joe Duce in 2001 and brother Lawrence in 2004. She is survived by her children Laureen (daughter Celina), Greg (Jennifer), Rhonda (Clint and daughters Jordan and Hailey), Leonard (Kristine), her husband Dave McClelland and her brother Lyle (Kathy) and family.

Joyce was born in Ste. Rose, Manitoba on August 10, 1941 to parents Ed and Ruth Campbell (whom passed in 1998 and 1996). They moved to Springhill for a number of years, working on the family farm before moving and settling in Clanwilliam. She married Louis Podruski on July 13, 1963 at St. Anthony Church, south of Sandy Lake, Manitoba, then moved to Brandon where they raised four children.

She enjoyed many hobbies, such as painting and drawing and was noted for her burlap sculpture "Moods & Moments", which made its way to many countries around the world. She was also an avid volunteer with the Girl Guides for many years. One of her greatest pleasures was her love of music, which began at an early age and she was self-taught. She performed on her fiddle and guitar and sang at numerous care homes and other events around Brandon and Westman.

Joyce took various positions in her work life and was very proud of her time working at COR Enterprises and after her retirement from there, held the position of President of the Board for some time. She loved nature; in particular, vegetable and flower gardening. She was fortunate to spend her last few summers "vacationing" at the family farm near Erickson with her husband Dave and her fifth child "Bruce the cat", enjoying that nature.

Joyce remained in the family home in Brandon until her move to Kirbyson House in February. A special thank you to Gail, Michelle and all of the staff at Kirbyson House with Daughter on Call for taking such good care of Mom and always surrounding her with love and respect.

A small family graveside service will be held in the fall, followed by a come and go tea for all to come and celebrate Mom's life; date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Joyce's memory to a charity of your choice.
