Obituary of Natividad Ibay Yasay

YASAY: Natividad Ibay Yasay passed away peacefully at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the age of 84 years. Natividad was born on October 19, 1937 in Villasis Pangasinan in the Philippines. She was the youngest of seven children.

Natividad received her Bachelor of Education from Pacifican College, her Midwifery from Midwifery Family Clinic in Manilla, and her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from the University of the Philippines, Diliman, QC. She worked as a teacher and midwife and was the Chief Occupational Therapist for the National Centre for Mental Health in the Philippines. She has been an Occupational Therapist at the Brandon Mental Health Centre and Centre for Adult Psychiatry (CAP) at the Brandon Regional Health Centre for many years. She was a proud member of the Manitoba Society of Occupational Therapists.

Natividad thoroughly enjoyed her church families at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church and McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church. She also loved her cats and dogs.

Natividad will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Joy (Boyet) Escalera and grandchildren: Josh, Venice and Brianni, her sister Eldermira Ibay-Navarro of Chicago, IL, USA, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Guillermo Yasay Jr. and her brothers and sisters. Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday, September 26, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. John Okosun as celebrant.
