Georgina was born on November 5, 1943, in Altona, Manitoba. Her early years were spent with her family in Killarney and Plum Coulee. Employment as a telephone operator brought her to Dominion City in 1961 where she met Glenn, the love of her life. Glenn and Georgina were married on October 6, 1963 and loved raising their family in that vibrant rural community. They retired to Kenora, ON, in 2006. Upon Glenn’s passing in 2010, Georgina moved to Brandon, MB.
Georgina was a dedicated mom and an active community member. She proudly worked as the Postmaster in Dominion City for 22 years. Georgina shared her gift of music with family, friends, and community; she was a great baker and a talented seamstress. Georgina volunteered with the DC Mom’s Club, the Order of the Royal Purple, and at the Dominion City Arena. She was a faithful member of the Dominion City United Church where she lovingly served on many committees, taught Sunday School, shared music, and participated in Presbytery.
In her later years, Georgina enjoyed travelling with Glenn, baking, volunteering at the Nearly New, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
A celebration of Georgina’s life will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., at Knox United Church, 451 18th Street, Brandon, MB. Georgina’s ashes will be interred with Glenn’s in Dominion City at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nearly New Shop, 601 9th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 4B3.
