PETERS: HARRY BENSON. Peacefully and with his family by his side, Harry chose to end his battle with cancer on December 15, 2022. Harry was born on July 3, 1961 and raised on the farm west of Rapid City, MB, the eighth of nine children.
Being part of a large family was a joy to Harry, he had many wonderful stories of life in the country and their shenanigans together. The outdoors featured prominently in almost any story whether it be work or play.
Harry began working at Cando Contracting at its inception in 1978. Although he left a few times over his forty year tenure, it was always his passion and he would return to continue his legacy there, retiring in 2018.
He met Shannon Pilling in 1984, and they were wed in 1985. Together they raised two amazing children; David Barrett, born in 1987 and Kelly Jo, born in 1990. They had a full and wonderful life together. Harry was blessed to have a job he loved, a family he enjoyed and was proud of, and a host of family and friends, many since childhood, but just as many from all over the continent and in the neighbourhood. He brought people together and was always game to be in the midst of gatherings large or small, impromptu or planned.
Harry was predeceased by his sister Carol (Burt LeSage), sister-in-law Barb (Northam) Peters and parents-in-law Donalda and Harold Pilling. Left to mourn are his parents Art and Shirley Peters, his wife Shannon, children David (Kristi Doull), Kelly (Colby) Vinck, grandchildren Cruz, Sawyer, Finley, Knox and Blaire, honorary grandchildren Gage and Hunter, siblings Bev (barb), Doug (Judith), Gord (Diane), Pat (Gene) Hyde, Dave (Sharon), Karen (Mike) Bootsman, Cindy (Paul) Dick, Shannon’s eight siblings and their spouses, as well as forty nieces and nephews, and over fifty greats as well.
