Obituary of Lorna Black

Lorna Eileen Black

January 24, 1951 - July 13, 2023

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Mother and Grandmother. She passed away on July 13, 2023, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. She is leaving behind a lifetime of love, compassion, and cherished memories that will remain in our hearts forever.

Lorna was born on January 24, 1951, to Lorne and Beatrice Wright. She grew up with her sister, Jeanette, and brother, David, on their family farm at Isabella, Manitoba.

Lorna attended Isabella and Birtle schools. Her education was continued in Winnipeg where she graduated from nursing school with her RN. She was a dedicated nurse for 44 years. During her career, she worked in Dauphin, Winnipeg and Brandon. She was blessed with many friendships throughout the years. She was a friend to so many offering a helping hand, a listening ear and a warm embrace to those in need.

Lorna was a true strength and inspiration to her family. She had a heart that knew no bounds. Her presence in our lives was a constant source of comfort, support and guidance. As a mother, she wore many hats and filled each role with joy and grace. She was a listening ear whenever we needed to talk, a shoulder to cry on when life got tough and a cheerleader celebrating our victories, no matter how big or small. She gave us wisdom and guidance as well as teaching the value of kindness.

Lorna’s role as a Grandmother was very special. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren. They could do no wrong. She effortlessly assumed the role of storyteller, playmate and confidante. She created memories that will stay with them forever.

Lorna’s passing leaves an emptiness in our hearts, but we find solace in knowing that she is at peace watching over us. As we mourn our loss, we also celebrate the life she lived, the love she gave and the impact she had on those around her. In her memory, let us continue her legacy of love and kindness. Spread joy and make a positive impact in the lives of others —- just like she did.

Lorna is survived by her son, Jamie (Cassandra); grandchildren: Angelo, Lucas, and Rozalynn; her daughter, Joan (Dave) and grandson, Cole (Casey); her sister and best friend, Jeanette Jackson; her brother, David (Dawn) Wright;  her nephew, Rick (Diane) Hyndman and her niece, Wendy (Neil) Rudiger.

Rest in peace dear Mom and Grandmother.

Your love will be forever cherished in our hearts.
