Robert “Bob” Thompson

April 23,1940 – September 23, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of their Father, Husband and Poppa on Saturday, September 23, 2023.  He passed away peacefully with his wife and daughter at his side at the Bren Del Win Lodge in Deloraine, MB.   

Robert Allen James Thompson was born on April 23, 1940 in the Whitehead Municipality area of Brandon, Manitoba to parents, Jessie and Walter Thompson.  Bob was one of three children and will be remembered by his siblings: Margaret (Dennis), Reese and his brother, George (Martha) Thompson. 

He is also survived by his wife Fern of 43 years, daughter Kelly, step-daughter Tracy and his five grandchildren who were the light of his life.  There was not a day that went by that he wouldn’t have stopped everything he was doing to help out his family, nor teach them the many lessons that made his family the generous caring people he wished them to be. 

Bob spent most of his day busy on the farm, always finding something to do.  He was a cattle farmer then later focused solely on grain.  He enjoyed remodeling model T trucks and cars, and would take off to the states many of weekends just to get away.  He enjoyed fishing with his grandson, going for drives in his truck and watching the grand children play their sports.  During his younger years he was a man of all trades, welding, rigging, operating cranes, belonged to the Iron Workers association, worked up north in the mines…the list was endless.    

A private family graveside service will take place at the Brandon Cemetery as Bob was a very private person.  The family would like to thank the Bren Del Win Lodge in Deloraine for the genuine care they provided.
