Lois Ellen nee Moffatt passed away peacefully with family by her side, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, on Thursday, September 28, 2023 after a long courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Born January 18, 1955 to James and Gladys Moffatt of Carroll. She spent her early years on the farm going to school in Carroll and Souris before the family relocated to Brandon in 1968.
Lois was always one to work becoming a Banquet girl at the Prince Edward Hotel, and later a waitress at the Suburban Restaurant. She married her first love Brian Fowler in 1972 and together they raised two children Rhonda and Rob. Lois was always involved in the kids activities volunteering with figure skating, baseball, hockey and curling. She coached several curling teams but loved being involved with her own kids the most.
She became a very accomplished curler winning the Manitoba Scott Tournament of Hearts four times, Manitoba Mixed with Rob, and three MB Senior titles. In 2015, she won the World Seniors in Sochi, Russia. She completed her curling career on top of the World!
Lois and Brian were blessed with four grandchildren which were her pride and joy. She rarely missed their activities. She loved Quinn’s dance recitals, Nolan’s hockey, golf, Carson and Aiden’s hockey and ball. She was a huge Wheat King fan following them for over 50 years but the last four years were her favourite watching Nolan.
Lois and Brian enjoyed many wonderful trips to Hawaii, Florida, Italy, Germany, Caribbean cruise, Alaskan cruise, Sochi Russia, and their winter home in Arizona. They enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and being with their many friends. Summer time was spent at her favourite place at Clear Lake. She golfed with the Clear Lake Ladies and thoroughly enjoyed just relaxing on the deck.
In 1983, Lois became a licensed realtor with Century 21. She enjoyed her many years of helping people with the purchase or sale of their home. She always felt it was such a rewarding career meeting so many wonderful people.
