Dorothy was born on September 9, 1930 at Melfort, Saskatchewan and went to be with her Lord and Saviour on November 22, 2023 after a brief illness.

She was born to Conrad and Martha Hanson and grew up on a farm in the North Star district in Saskatchewan.   She moved to Prince Albert to attend school and work. She met Harry Berg, and they were married in 1954. They moved to the Berg farm at Minnedosa, Manitoba were she raised her family, helped on the farm and worked at the Credit Union.  She moved to Brandon in 1971 where she went to school at Assiniboine Community College to earn a business certificate and went on to work at the Teachers Credit Union and Westoba Credit Union while she was raising four kids. In 1978, she married Jack Fletcher and moved to Prince Albert where she instantly became a mother and grandmother to Jack’s two daughters and their families.  Following Jack’s death, she returned to Brandon where she reconnected with family and friends and made lots of new friends through involvement with church and volunteering.

Dorothy had a strong faith in God and loved to read, visit and grow in her faith.  People were important to her and even though she enjoyed a quiet life, she enjoyed being with friends and helping others.  She had a remarkable sense of humour and would often catch people off guard with her one liners. She found opportunities to volunteer in community agencies, serving in church and finding people to befriend. She was especially famous for her baking, especially her cinnamon buns, which one of her kids was known to trade for another students lunch!

She is survived by her children Don (Verna) Berg, Ralph (Brenda) Berg, Joan (David) Walwyn, Howard (Lori Nevins) Berg; Dianne Bekolay and Myrna (Glenn) Goodman; 14 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren; siblings Lawrence (Joyce) Hanson, Margaret (Ron) Unger, Eileen Rosewell, Oscar (Carole) Hanson as well as many nephews, nieces and lots of friends.
