Obituary of Stanley Mazur

Stan Mazur

Stan passed away on December 21, 2023 at the Brandon Assiniboine Center. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Ides, daughters Lisa and Laurel and granddaughters Megan and Rachel.

Stan was born on October 24, 1936 to John and Mary Mazur. He was predeceased by his parents and infant brother, Charles and many relatives across Canada and in Germany.  He was raised in Allegra, Manitoba which had been the Mazur homestead for many generations.  He met his wife Ides in Beausejour and they married on August 1, 1964.  Stan and Ides started their family in Winnipeg and moved to Brandon in 1972.

Retiring from Manitoba Hydro after 34 years of service, Stan and Ides moved to Clear Lake, and enjoyed many winters in Arizona.  He was happiest with family and friends anywhere he went. He loved to fish, curl, bike, deliver newspapers to friends, walk the family dogs, and tend his garden. Stan selflessly volunteered his time to several organizations such as the Lion’s Club, United Way, and the Brandon Hospital.  In 1990, the International Lion’s organization awarded Stan the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award for his 10 years chairing meetings to build Brandon’s Lion’s Manor.

A special thank you to Stan’s doctors, nurses, friends at Assiniboine Centre.
