Obituary of June Affleck
Muriel June Affleck
1929-2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Muriel June Affleck at Fairview Personal Care Home on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at the age of 94 years.
June was born on November 13, 1929 in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan to parents Charlie and Jenny Butcher (McLeod). While growing up with her sister Ruth, June developed a mischievous and practical joke side that continued for the rest of her life. In 1948, June met Keith Affleck and they exchanged wedding vows on October 5, 1949. Children soon started to fill their lives with Lynn in 1950, Don in 1955, Jim in 1956 and Rodney in 1968.
Keith’s work with CNR brought the family to Brandon, MB in 1968. Once all the kids were in school, mom went to work at the post office. In 1975, mom began working at the Brandon Mental Health Centre as a psychiatric nurse assistant. It was there she was able to expand her mischievous and practical joke side on her fellow staff members and patients. Mom and dad both retired in 1986. When dad passed away in 1989, mom’s world was turned upside down. After a few years later, mom reconnected with her high school sweetheart Jack Robinson. Their time together consisted of spending time at Ditch Lake and travelling to the U.S. and Mexico. In 2010, mom and Jack surprised everyone by getting married. One thing about mom…..there was no moss growing under her feet. She was always looking for new adventures. Family was everything to mom and she was so very proud of her children and grandchildren.
June will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lynn (Jack) Affleck, grandsons Ben Affleck, Paul (Kim) Affleck and great-grandchildren Emily and Sam; son Don (Anna-Maria) Affleck, granddaughter Erin (Jay) Molyneaux, Lauren (Chad) Sykes, Caedence (Chris) Anger, great-grandchildren Carter (Alexa), Caden (Olivia), Keenan, Liam, Carys, Camden and Lieve; son Jim (Bev) Affleck, grandchildren Lindsay (James) Affleck, Douglas Affleck, Leeanna (Jeremy) Affleck; son Rodney Affleck; step-daughters Patty (Ed) Klimchuk, Linda (Rudy) Fast and families. June was predeceased by her first husband Keith; parents Charlie and Jennie Butcher; sister Ruth Davidson; grandmother Margaret McLeod; aunt Maude McLeod; step son Barry Robinson; nephews Brian Butcher and Bobby Williams and great-granddaughter Carlyn Sawchuk.
Mom’s family would like to thank the wonderful teams on the 3rd and 5th floors at Fairview Personal Care Home for their unwavering care and compassion for mom. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of June may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 4B-457-9th Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 1K2.
