I’ve lived in this neighborhood for the past 18 years, and Ron was the One person who kept a close eye on my kids and I from across the street. He was so kind, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and was Always there to lend a helping hand when he saw myself or my kids struggling with our lawn mower, getting our vehicles started in the winter or having mechanical issues. He was always there during snowstorms or after heavy snowfalls with his snowblower, clearing out our driveway and sidewalk and would even shovel off our steps, even when we said it wasn’t necessary. He would never take gift cards as thanks for the work he had done, saying “I like to keep busy.” Ron took great pride in a well manicured lawn and would lend a hand to neighbors beside him offering assistance or recommendations. We noticed him leaving the house every day - probably to meet up with his coffee buddies, and one day my daughter was at Tim Horton’s, returned home to ask if Ron had a twin? Because she was sure she saw someone who looked just like him! We now know that he does! And the Crows! My daughter was envious of Ron- the crow whisperer- the crows would flock to his side of the street when he hung bird feeders in his tree. One day, after a fir tree was removed from our next door neighbor’s yard, he came over and put some breadcrumbs/feed on the ground where the tree had been because he knew that the bluejays had lost their home; and he wanted crows to come over to our side of the street as it would mean a lot to my daughter. I can’t say enough about what a kind and generous soul Ron had and what a selfless person he was. He will be so dearly missed in our neighborhood. Our deepest condolences to Olga, Sara and Family, Ron’s Mother and siblings and extended families. Cheryl Batlowski

We were deeply saddened to hear of Ron's passing. For 34 years, he was a great neighbor and a true friend to our family. His kindness knew no bounds, always there to lend a hand. Countless times he helped out, from garage doors to irrigation systems; he always seemed to have a fix for just about anything you could imagine. We will never forget his unwavering generosity and humble nature. (Even though he wouldn't accept anything in return - My Dad couldn't help but playfully grumble about it)
Ron's absence leaves a void that can never be filled. He was a friend in the truest sense, someone you could count on in both good times and bad. To Olga, Sara, and all of Ron's family, our hearts go out to you during this difficult time. We lost a great guy, whose memory will forever be in our hearts. Please accept our deepest condolences, and know that we are here for you for anything you might need.
With heartfelt sympathy,
The Grays

To Olga & Family,
I cannot express how very sorry we are for the passing of Ron. I have known Ron for 55 years, but in the past 6 years he has been an absolute "Angel" for how he treated my almost 93 year old Dad. The joy that he gave my Dad was so unique...Ron started picking up my Dad for coffee about 3 times a week. For the past 6 years this was surely a highlight of his day. I always asked him how the "gossip guys" were & he would laugh. He also picked up lottery tickets, a few groceries, meals...as he always knew where the deals were. Taking coffee & visiting Dad when he spent 4 months in the Assiniboine & continuing taking him out for the past 14 months while living in a Nursing Home. He was a true friend, & my gratitude for this will always remain.
Thank you Ron.
May you Rest in Peace.
Thinking of you Olga.
