Obituary of Joyce Mealy

Joyce Eva Mealy passed away with her son Shane by her side, at the Assiniboine Centre, on February 2, 2024 at the age of 93 years. She will be remembered and sadly missed by her son Shane, grandchildren Addison and Christopher, sister Helen and the rest of the family.  Joyce was married to Bill Mealy for 57 years. Her heart was broken when Bill recently passed away prior to her on December 23, 2023, while sharing the same room at the Assiniboine Centre.  After losing her husband Bill suddenly, combined with her declining health, it was too much for Joyce to overcome and she had to finally let go to be with her husband. Joyce and Bill loved to have fun in their younger years and most recently, would spend countless hours watching sports on TV which included the Jets, Bombers, Blue Jays and curling.  When it came to serious matters, Joyce always had a handle on things and made sure Bill was looked after no matter what!  She was the rock for our family, always making sure the important things were looked after.  Joyce loved to be outside in the summer with Bill, looking after the flowers and gardens, and enjoying visits from her family and friends.  Grandma Joyce was very proud of her grandchildren and loved them dearly.  She always asked about them and looked forward to seeing or talking to them on the phone. Joyce previously worked at Safeway for 32 years, retiring in 1993.  She was a beloved wife, mom, grandma and sister. We miss her dearly. Both Joyce and Bill are missed every day and will be forever in our hearts.  Rest well and take care of each other as I know you are. You are home Mom. Thank you for being my parents.
