Obituary of Helen McKenzie

Helen Irene McKenzie, of Brandon, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at Brandon Regional Health Centre, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Helen was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on July 12, 1944. During her early life, she lived on a farm near Courval, Saskatchewan with her parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers and later moved to Moose Jaw to attend high school where she graduated from Central Collegiate High School in 1962. After high school she worked at various branches of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce where she met her husband to be, Brian McKenzie. After being married, Helen stayed at home to raise her two boys and spent 25 years volunteering her time at school libraries in Brandon; 22 of which were spent at River Heights School. Helen is survived by her sons, Bradley (Mary) of Bangkok, Thailand, David (Vivian) of Campbell River, BC and her sisters, Margaret Taylor, Marge Nestor and brothers Leonard and Richard (Patricia) Rodgers. She was predeceased by her husband, Brian McKenzie, sister Ruby Gilroy and her parents J. Clifford and Mabel Rodgers. A celebration of Helen's life will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332 8th Street, on Friday July 12, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Helen may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 17th Street. E., Brandon, MB, R7A 7M6.
