Carl Larson

Obituary of Carl Larson

Carl Harold Warren Larson

May 4, 1934 - June 8, 2024

Carl passed away on June 8, 2024 at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon at the age of ninety.

Carl is predeceased by his parents Levi and Clara and his sisters Leona Larson and Mona Moffat. He is survived by his sister Eunice Roe. He will sadly be missed by his three children Janice (Chris), Cara (Klayton), Jamie (Kristen), and his grandchildren Madison and Kelsey Bright, Konnor, Lukas, and Levi Mullens and Taylor Larson.

Carl was born in Minnedosa. He attended Hazelwood School and then Moore Park School after moving to the Larson farm south of Minnedosa. He farmed with his dad for several years and eventually took over the family farm. In 1967, he married Muriel Rogers. They had three children; Janice, Cara, and Jamie. While farming, Carl also worked in construction on projects such as the Sportsplex, Victoria Inn, Royal Oak Inn, BCI and the Rapid City Natural Gas Pumping Station. Carl had grainland, cattle, pigs, chickens, and his beloved dog Cody, which kept him busy.

In his spare time, he loved to bowl and had many trophies to show for it. He also enjoyed anything involving vintage cars and tractors. He always longed for the farm life and was up for a car ride to see how the yearly crops were doing.  Carl did some traveling. His favorite destinations were Alberta to visit family, Watrous, Saskatchewan to soak in the saltwater pools and Minot, ND.

Upon retiring, Carl lived briefly in Minnedosa, but later settled in Brandon to be closer to his children and all the grandchildren. He was proud of all their achievements. He often would comment on how tall the grandkids were growing and they must get that from him. In his later years Carl attended Church more often. He maintained his independence and health with his many walks. Carl was always up for a crib game, a coffee at Tim Hortons and visiting with his family and friends.

Carl has been laid to rest next to his parents at the Smoland Cemetery.  Carl’s family would like to thank the staff at Brockie Donovan, Pastor Andrew Lortie of the First Baptist Church and the nurses/staff as the Brandon Regional Hospital and Assiniboine Centre.
