Obituary of Irene Patterson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, nanny and friend, Irene Patterson on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the age of 88.

Irene was born to parents Joe and Mary Fuchs in Grayson, SK on January 20, 1936. Irene was the eldest of 10 children, mother of 4, Nanny to 6, Great Nanny to 23 and Great-Great Nanny to 1.

Irene was full of vim and vinegar, she was one of the funniest, kind, caring and helpful women around.

While always ensuring everyone was fed she enjoyed watching all the kids be kids, having sleepovers to watch Matilda, thrift shopping and helping others in need.

Irene resided in Winnipeg, MB until she followed love to Regina, SK in 2006 to be with her late husband Don, where she remained until 2024 when she became ill and moved to Brandon, MB to live with her daughter Shelly and son-in-law John.

Irene was admitted to Brandon Regional Health Centre on July 31, 2024, where she remained until her passing.

Irene was pre deceased by her parents Joe and Mary Fuchs, son Patrick Patterson, husband Don Schondelmier, brother Dave Fuchs, sister Pearl Cocks sister-in-law Alice Fuchs, brother-in-law John Dean and great-grandson Isaiah McKay.

Irene will be lovingly remembered by her children Micheal (Eileen) Maier, Shelly (John) Mayer and Treasure Patterson; granddaughters Rochelle Mayer, Christine Ward, Carol-Ann (Travis) DeVisser, Destiny (Greg) Ranville, Jillian Mayer (Neech) and grandson Jesse (Selina) Mayer as well as her great-grandchildren and great-great granddaughter Latisha and many nieces and nephews.

She will also be fondly remembered by her remaining siblings Al (Carol) Fuchs, Elsie Dean, Joe (Fran) Fewes, Dianne (Claude) Gyug, Del (Nancy) Fuchs, Ag (Wayne) Gelowitz, Jerry (Ladette) Fuchs.

Though time and miles may separate us, we have built a bridge of lovely memories to span the distance - Lynn Parker
